The Project
KAM Coastal acquired, entitled, and sold a large scale property for FedEx - KAM Coastal’s long time business partners, in Santa Maria, CA. Following the successful purchase, KAM Coastal was the land developer and building contractor for this extensive design/build project.
From concept to completion, KAM Coastal was responsible for:
• Defined project scope, budget and schedule
• Defining design requirements, schedule and setting project milestones
• Collaborating with architects, engineers, city planning and building department in collaboration with FedEx’s real estate department and other key stakeholders
• Overseeing FedEx lease terms and conditions and construction contract management
• Serving as the project owners manager overseeing the land development and construction phases of the project
• Efficient scheduling to optimize time and money
• Bringing the project in on time allowing FedEx to prepare for their peak season schedule and the project was on budget
The Results
Built in 2002, this property is located on McCoy Lane in the town of Santa Maria, California. The single steel constructed building includes approximately 2,450 square feet of conditioned office space which accommodates the day-to-day FedEx Ground business operations of the Northern Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties.
The remainder of the building allows inbound tractor-trailer deliveries at the dock high loading area. Packages are then sorted in FedEx Grounds proprietary automated package sorting system onto smaller delivery vans for local delivery and pick-up.
