The Project

William Carey International University is a 15-acre college campus located in Pasadena, CA. WCIU, Christian college with an emphasis on missionary work, had owned the property since 1977. The school began scaling back its on-site education and transitioned to offering online education.

The property consisted of 12 buildings including: 3 dormitories, classrooms, administrative building, a library and dining hall, and 2 special purpose buildings. All buildings were older and in disrepair. KAM Coastal marketed the property to prominent real estate developers and education users throughout California. KAM Coastal structured a long term (over 1 year) escrow with EF (Education First) to allow EF to work with the city to approve a new use for the property as an international high school for 1,000 international students.

The Results

In 2018, Education First, a privately held Swiss based international education company, purchased the property and restored the historic buildings on the campus and invested $110,000 to add new dormitories, sports facilities and modern classrooms.

EF is currently in full operation with 600 students and growing.
